🎉 Viva La Fiesta! Celebrating the 2025 Old Spanish Days in Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara is once again alive with color, rhythm, and tradition as the 101st Old Spanish Days Fiesta returns from July 30 to August 3, 2025. This beloved five-day celebration, themed “Capture the Spirit,” honors the city’s rich Spanish, Mexican, and Native American heritage through music, dance, food, and community pride.

A Living Tribute to History and Culture

Founded in the 1920s, Old Spanish Days was envisioned as a way to celebrate Santa Barbara’s cultural roots while drawing visitors to the area. Over the decades, it has grown into a vibrant, immersive experience that transforms the city into a stage for tradition and storytelling.

This year’s theme, chosen by El Presidente Fritz Olenberger, reflects the emotional depth and vitality of the celebration. The official poster, featuring a flamenco dancer in a flowing red Bata de Cola, captures the movement and passion that define Fiesta. 

Highlights of the 2025 Fiesta

Here are some of the must-see events and experiences happening throughout the week:

🌺 La Fiesta Pequeña – July 30, 8 PM

Held at the historic Old Mission Santa Barbara, this opening night event features traditional songs and dances that honor the Californios spirit. It’s a free, family-friendly celebration under the stars. 

🛍️ El Mercado De La Guerra – July 30–August 2, 11 AM–10 PM

Located across from City Hall, this bustling market offers delicious Spanish and Mexican-American cuisine, handmade crafts, and live entertainment all day long. 

🐎 El Desfile Histórico (Historical Parade) – August 1, 12 PM

One of the largest equestrian parades in the U.S., this iconic event features riders in traditional dress, historic floats, and cultural reenactments along Cabrillo Boulevard. 

🎶 Las Noches de Ronda – July 31–August 2, 8 PM

Held in the Sunken Gardens of the Santa Barbara Courthouse, these magical evenings showcase flamenco, folklórico, and other traditional performances beneath the stars. 

🎨 Fiesta Arts & Crafts Show – August 2–3, 10 AM–6 PM

Stroll along Cabrillo Boulevard and explore handmade treasures by local artisans, from embroidered garments to painted tiles. 

👧 El Desfile de los Niños (Children’s Parade) – August 2, 10 AM

A heartwarming procession of young dancers and families in traditional attire, celebrating the next generation of Fiesta spirit.
